ACVNU Legacy Diplomate Candidates

Prospective ACVNU Legacy Diplomate Candidates are veterinarians with either 10 or more full-time equivalent years OR 6 or more full-time equivalent years over the past 10 calendar years, of focused nephrology-urology experience at the time of  application. Prospective candidates must successfully complete and pass all mandated examinations to attain diplomate status with the ACVNU. This offers an exciting new opportunity for more veterinarians to join the ACVNU and contribute to the advancing field of veterinary nephrology and urology.

A Legacy Diplomate Candidate is a prospective ACVNU Diplomate who is qualified similarly to ACVNU Founders regarding their patientcare qualifications in nephrology and urology.

A Legacy Diplomate Candidate (as a result of their precedent experience) is not required to enroll in a dedicated residency training program of the College.

A Legacy Diplomate Candidate, however, is required by the American Board of Veterinary Specialties (ABVS) Policies and Procedures to demonstrate mastery of all examination and clinical competencies defined by the ACVNU.

There will be a finite period of 2 years from this initial announcement for Legacy Diplomate candidates to apply. The final date for application is 05 December 2025.
