An ACVNU Fellowship in Endourology provides a mechanism to document and certify adequate training, both didactic and experiential, ensuring that individuals completing the program will be adequately trained to provide expert level endourology for the pet-owning public.
Objectives of an ACVNU Fellowship in Endourology
At the completion of the fellowship, the trainee should demonstrate:
In depth understanding of the structure and function of the normal urinary tract and the pathophysiology of urinary tract diseases
Proficiency in performing uroendoscopy and associated techniques (ex. laser lithotripsy, cystoscopic-guided ablation of ectopic ureters, urology specific interventional radiology, urinary diversion techniques, etc.)
Proficiency in image-guided urinary tract interventions
Appropriate case selection for specific interventions
Appropriate adjunctive traditional case management
Ability to troubleshoot problems and innovate when faced with unique diagnostic and treatment situations
