MONDAY MARCH 24, 2025
In this hands-on lab session, participants will learn the essential techniques for obtaining vascular access for dialysis. Participants will receive step-by-step instruction on the preparation, placement, and maintenance of these access points, with a focus on minimizing complications and ensuring long-term functionality. Through guided practice on simulation models, attendees will develop the practical skills needed to confidently perform vascular access procedures in a clinical setting.
In this immersive lab session, participants will explore the principles and procedures of Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE), a specialized treatment used to remove harmful substances from the blood in patients with various autoimmune, hematologic, and neurological disorders. The session will provide an overview of the different types of plasma exchange systems. Attendees will learn how the machines can deliver the desired prescription for effective solute removal via TPE.
In this practical lab session, participants will delve into the principles and application of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), used for critically ill patients with acute kidney injury. The session will show the different modalities of CRRT, including continuous venovenous hemofiltration (CVVH), continuous venovenous hemodialysis (CVVHD), and continuous venovenous hemodiafiltration (CVVHDF). A prescription for hemodialysis will be discussed and demonstrated how it can be delivered on the CRRT platform.
In this interactive lab session, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the principles and mechanics of hemodialysis. The session will cover the fundamental concepts of diffusion, convection, and ultrafiltration as they apply to hemodialysis. A prescription for hemodialysis will be discussed and demonstrated how it can be delivered on the IHD platform.
